Another week, another 7 Gratitude Adventure photos. I’ve decided to just list the date and not the daily writing when I post here each week (or maybe you like reading the longer version? Let me know!) I’m worried I’ll never find the time or space to talk art!! Check out my Facebook page for the longer gratitude postings…https://www.facebook.com/mymiasart
Life has slowly been getting back to normal after our trip. I’m still editing my photo; enjoying taking it slowly, savouring each one and the memories of the moments captured. My trusty Olympus OMD-5 did not let me down! I have a super abundance of amazing images and don’t quite know where to start with writing a blog post. Watch this space! I’ll get there eventually.
Its been magical to be back in the studio, paintbrush in hand, the faint fragrance of linseed oil lingering in the air, brushstrokes on canvas – the beating heart of the studio.
I’m sure many of you feel the same as me…the absolute joy that comes with being creative. To have art wash away ‘the dust of everyday life’. To have creativity and imagination fill the void left by the craziness of our everyday lives.
Art slows me down.
It grounds me.
The simple act of applying paint to canvas with a wooden brush, gives me a quieting of thoughts and a focus on the task at hand.
Whatever tickles your fancy – painting, writing, photography, craft, cake making, as long as it involves creating, mark making, soul cleansing…JUST DO IT. Create and then create some more. Each creation will abundantly double, triple and quadruple creativity even more.
I must admit, 7 weeks off from the studio over our long summer holidays, left me feeling a little dull in the ol’ creation ranks…thankfully every time I’ve headed into the studio since my return, I’ve found a little more creative processing return. The thoughts have switched back on, ideas are forming, whirling around, waiting to settle into a rightful place where they will take root and grow.
‘The Gratitude Adventures’ 365 photo project is proof that creativity creates more creativity. Week one, I was worried I had bitten off more than I could chew with this photo project…47 days in, I’ve got more ideas than I can use in just 1 year and I’m already dreaming up next years project! Don’t get me wrong, it is a challenge and I am sure there will be days when I will be struggling to upload a decent image, but mostly, I think its going to be a very fun year.
BTW! Check this out…a wonderful exposure by Australian Artists United. Such an honour to be listed on their blog. Is this really me? Slowly, carefully, this journey is coming together. http://australianartistsunited.wordpress.com/2014/02/16/mia-laing/
Now, Go on…find your soul cleanser. Purge. Cleanse. Create.
