Im really happy with the frames I’ve sourced for my little paintings…do you remember this alla prima limes one I did for the Strada challenge? Looks so lovely varnished and all dressed up. My lime tree is still heavy with fruit so I must get painting these fruity treats again. Anyway, it’s available! Oil on panel, framed to approximate size 22x27cm. $280 Australian delivery included.

‘Paradox’ will be on display and for sale from Friday 29th October - 7th November at the City of Stirling Reception Hall. ⁣

As part of their 50th anniversary, there will be some artist demonstrations too, so worth having a look for sure.

Some have it, some don’t. ⁣

It’s the power of the mind to form new ideas, or concepts or images not readily presently to the senses…eg mental ideas of things you can’t actually see. ⁣
⁣
I find it super exciting to finally wrangle my imagined ideas out of my brain and onto paper. It can take weeks of pondering and dreaming to get even a scribble into a sketch book. These are the paintings that give me the most joy, ones that are pure imagination. ⁣
⁣
I’m pondering my next painting at the moment. Another imaginative realism piece and maybe, just maybe, part of a longer series. 🤔⁣
⁣
Problem with having an active imagination, is finding the quiet and space from the noise of life to let it form. ⁣
⁣
Walking the dog, taking a bath and watering the garden are awesome imagination times for me.⁣
⁣

I’ve been busily sourcing quality ready made frames for my en plein air and alla prima paintings. I’m really pleased to have finally solved the presentation of these little paintings and this one, painted in @kingsparkandbotanicgarden recently is now available. Yeah! 22x27cm framed. I’ve mounted the panel on a backing board and popped it into a lovely wood frame, that meets my perfectionist tendencies, whilst keeping the prices affordable and delivery within Australia is included. $280 varnished and ready to hang. 🔴🔴 Thank you @galleryaura for finding new homes for these two littles. They have both found homes in the local Kojunup community which is lovely. These two are Alla prima paintings, painted in one sitting from life, just like my latest 30 day challenge ones. Btw, Im busily framing some of them, so if there’s been one you’ve liked, let me know. That’s a wrap! A snapshot (realised I’ve doubled my strawberry 🍓 and missed one garden painting in this collage) of the month of September doing the #stradaeasel challenge. It’s been fun and thank you to @strada.easel for hosting this worldwide art challenge. Now…paintbrushes crossed to be a lucky winner of a strada easel!

Day 30 #stradaeasel challenge. And I am DONE! Challenge completed and I can honestly say, it’s been an incredible experience. Some days easier than others. I wanted to end on a simple but poignant painting…it really is the simplicity of drawing from life, as often as possible, that sees the most growth for your art and challenging yourself…for you, that makes all the difference. Thanks @strada.easel for holding these challenges to spur us on with our art journeys. Tomorrow I will post all 30 paintings/drawings in one hit. Thanks for all the cheering from the sidelines!

🔴 Fish Out of Water 3! Thank you @bluethumbart for this wonderful commission and a retake on an oil painting I did a year or so ago. My client saw it on Bluethumb as a print and requested an original similar. I quite like repainting images a few years a part to see if lessons have been learnt…as long as I get to make a few changes so the paintings aren’t identical. Such a lovely patient client too, with projects getting in the way of finishing this one quickly. Packing it off today and sending it in its merry way…to a lockdown state, so hopefully it gets there without too many delays and brings some cheer.

Day 28 #stradaeasel challenge A plein air miniature for the win today. Repurposed my @derwentartau tin pencil case to a pochade box/palette. Might play with this fun size more often. Swipe to see it popped into a classic frame. 7x12cm/ 6x3inch on a @ampersand_art panel. ❤️❤️❤️

Day 27 #stradaeasel challenge. A painting a day from life for the month of September. I’ve been at the @pleinairdownunder festival for three days and it’s been amazing! Plein air is hard and though I’ve been a studio painter for 12 plus years, I feel an absolute novice with plein air and have actually only been trying it for a few months and not often enough. Today we had to complete our painting in two hours and then put it in for judging. 😬 Happy to say at least I finished. Many lessons learnt this weekend and now to practice for next years event! Anyone recognize this red hut?

Day 25 #stradaeasel A wonderful day @pleinairdownunder in Mandurah. Didn’t have much success with my paintings but I did at least paint a landscape. Lessons learnt…pick a spot in the shade. I should have spent longer refining this but I couldn’t do another minute in full sun. Tomorrow is another day.

Day 23 #stradaeasel I’m packing for @pleinairdow

Day 23 #stradaeasel I’m packing for @pleinairdownunder and my oils are zipped away in my kit. I’ll finally get some landscapes done for @strada.easel from tomorrow. So for now, it’s gouache on watercolor paper, with my sleepy GR to model size. 😆 I bumped the feathers as I photographed and they have photographed way darker than I painted them. Oh well, it’s done.
